Short Line Tie Program: Transforming Rail Infrastructure
The Short Line Tie Program, valued at $7,500,000, was a pivotal project aimed at revitalizing Northern Manitoba’s rail network. This comprehensive initiative involved the deployment of two undercutter support crews and a spot surfacing and section crew to ensure high-quality execution. Over the course of the program, 55,000 track feet of new rail were installed, alongside 62,000 track feet of new ties, significantly enhancing the durability and reliability of the rail system. Additionally, 70 miles of track were surfaced, marking a substantial improvement in operational efficiency and safety for the region’s rail infrastructure. This project played a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and functionality of Northern Manitoba’s short-line railways.
