Upgrading Track Infrastructure

The Cando Rail Sarnia Terminal project, located in Sarnia, Ontario and valued at $2,200,000, was a comprehensive track construction initiative designed to enhance the facility’s operational capacity. The project involved the construction of 33,000 track feet of new rail to expand and modernize the terminal’s infrastructure. A significant component was the installation of 28 new yard turnouts, crucial for efficient rail switching operations. The project also included the construction and installation of 480 track feet of timber plank crossings and 18 open-cut drainage and utility crossings, addressing both functional and environmental needs. Additionally, 600 track feet of existing track were realigned to improve operational efficiency, and 28 bumping posts were installed to ensure safety and reliability at the terminal.
