On this day, our Track Project Team’s unwavering commitment to safety shone brightly when they quickly intervened to protect a lost and distressed 12-year-old who had wandered onto Track 1 West. The Track Protection Worker’s quick thinking and swift action prevented potential harm and safely reunited the child with her mother. This incident highlights the vigilance and dedication of our team to upholding our core value of Committed to Safety.

Committed to Safety: A Core Value in Action

Our dedication to safety was again proven on May 23rd, 2024 when a fire broke out at mile 26 on the Oakville Sub. Our Foreman immediately alerted nearby trains via radio, and another Foreman reported the heavy smoke and flames. Despite the challenging conditions, our team worked in unison to assist firefighters, laying a hose across the track to slow the fire’s spread and successfully containing one of the fires. Their composure, professionalism, and dedication to safety ensured the protection of train staff and the transit network. This incident exemplifies our core value of Committed to Safety, demonstrating that safety is not just a priority but a way of life at Universal Rail Systems.
